Parking a removal van in Leeds

Read the signs, ask Leeds City Council if a suspension is needed, and tell us where the van can actually stop.

A removal van at the kerb on a residential street

Van parking is part of the move, not a detail for the morning. Leeds streets vary. A drive in Alwoodley is simple. A terrace in Headingley, Burley or Harehills often is not. City centre blocks may have a bay that is not outside your door.

What to check

Read the plates on both streets. Residents’ permit zones, time limits and loading bans are common. If the kerb is full in photos taken at the weekend, it will be full on a weekday too. Photograph the frontage.

Leeds City Council handles parking suspensions and dispensations. You apply. We do not apply for you, and we do not quote a council fee because those charges are the council’s, not ours. Send us the confirmation, the hours and which bays are suspended.

On the day

Leave the space clear if you have one. Cones only mean something if the suspension says you may use them. Tell neighbours if you can. A crew cannot block a junction because a sofa is coming out.

If the van stops further away, the quote should already allow for the carry. Add that when you get a free quote for a house removal. More street detail is in our terrace and parking checklist.

Frequently asked questions

Can you park on double yellow lines?

Only if you have the permission the signs and the council require. We will not assume a van is exempt.

What if no space is free on the day?

We carry from the nearest safe stop. That takes longer. A booked suspension is how you reduce that risk.
