Chapel Allerton centres on Harrogate Road, with the old village streets, stone villas and later semis behind it. Some of the larger houses are now flats. Others are still family homes with short drives and bay windows. The mix means we ask what the building actually is, not only the area name.
Harrogate Road itself is a bus route with limited places to stop. A van on the main road at the wrong time blocks a lane. Side streets such as the ones off Stainbeck and the roads nearer the park are quieter, but cars park on both sides and a large van can struggle to turn. Flat conversions often have a staircase that was not built for a wardrobe. If there is no lift, say so. A piano from a front room in a villa needs a clear path to the pavement.
The run from Woodhouse is a straightforward trip up the A61 corridor, about two and a half miles, unless a match or roadworks sits on the way. Insurance is provided. We would rather walk a few extra metres from a legal space than leave the van where it will be ticketed.
