Headingley is the stone terrace belt along Otley Road. Shared houses, small flats over shops and older family houses sit on streets that were not built for a large van. North Lane, the Arc and the stadium are the landmarks. Our Woodhouse base is about a mile away, so the drive is short. The slow part is the last hundred metres.
Few of the terrace streets have drives. Cars already fill both kerbs, and a match or international at Headingley Stadium pushes more vehicles into Ash Road, St Michael’s Lane and the streets behind the ground. A van needs a gap at the door, or a stop on Otley Road only where loading is allowed. Bay windows, cellar stairs and narrow halls are normal. Tell us if a piano or a large sofa has to come out of a front room with a tight turn.
Student changeover weeks pack the same streets with other vans. If your house is a shared let, confirm whether every room is moving or only one. Insurance is provided. The local team plans the stop before the day, not after the van is boxed in.
