Directions from Armley to our Leeds base
Armley is the ridge above the canal and the Kirkstall Road valley. Town Street is the high street, steep in places, with shops, the library and terraces packed behind it. Back-to-backs, later semis and some flats share streets that were laid out before anyone expected a removal van to turn around.
The hill changes the job. A van facing uphill with the back doors open is harder to load, and a trolley needs a pavement that is not blocked by bins or a junction. Some streets are so narrow that we stop on the next road and carry. Tell us about steps up to the door, yard gates and whether the sofa has to come through the house because the front door is tight. Blue Badge bays at the hub are not a general loading bay.
From Woodhouse the route is through Burley and along the west side of the city, about two and a half miles. It is local work. Insurance is provided. If you are leaving a rented terrace, landlord waste is not accepted at the tip as household waste.
See house removals and flat removals where a house has been split. Nearby: Burley and Pudsey. Leeds removals is based in Woodhouse.
On the steeper streets we chock the trolley and take smaller loads. It is slower and it is safer. If bins are out, the pavement disappears. A different morning is better than forcing a wardrobe past a row of wheelie bins on a slope. Stocks Hill, by the hub, is not a general loading street for the whole of LS12.

Moving in Armley: common questions
Are Armley streets steep?
Many are. Town Street climbs the ridge, and the terraces off it have slopes and tight corners. A trolley on a hill needs a clear path and a legal place to put the van.
Is there parking at the library?
Armley Community Hub, 2 Stocks Hill, LS12 1UQ, has no public car park. The library page lists Blue Badge bays outside. A removal van for a nearby house still has to find a legal stop on the street.
Which tip is nearest?
Kirkstall, on Evanston Avenue, LS4 2HR, is the nearest Leeds household waste site for much of Armley. Pudsey tip is the option further west.
