Moortown sits on the ridge where Harrogate Road and Street Lane meet. Stone semis, detached houses and a smaller number of flats and maisonettes fill the streets behind the shops. Many properties have a drive. The older ones closer to the junction often have a short front garden and cars already on the street.

The corner itself is a poor place to stop. Buses, shoppers and the filter lanes leave no sensible gap for a van. We look for the side street, the drive, or a stretch of kerb that is not a junction. If the house is on a hill, say whether the garden steps face the road. A large sideboard from a dining room in a 1930s semi is a normal job. A flat over a shop on the main road needs the stair width and a legal stop.

The trip from Woodhouse is about three miles, past Chapel Allerton. It is local. Insurance is provided. If you are also clearing a garage, the Meanwood tip is a separate household trip, not a reason to overload the removal van with rubble.

See house removals and furniture removals for part loads. Nearby: Chapel Allerton and Alwoodley. Leeds removals is based in Woodhouse.

The junction of Street Lane and Harrogate Road has filter lanes and bus stops. We do not unload on that corner. A semi with a drive on a side street is straightforward if the drive is empty. If a car has to stay, tell us which side of the house the path uses.

Moving in Moortown: common questions

Is Moortown the same as Alwoodley?

No. Moortown is the area around the Street Lane and Harrogate Road junction. Alwoodley is further north, towards the ring road. Both use LS17, so the street matters.

Do the houses have drives?

Many semis do. Older houses nearer the shops can have a short drive or only the street. A van on Harrogate Road at the corner is a last resort.

Which library is nearest?

Moor Allerton Library is in the centre on King Lane, LS17 5NY, to the north. The general line is 0113 378 5005. Chapel Allerton Library is the option to the south.
