A student move into Leeds is usually one room, not a family house. Headingley, Hyde Park, Woodhouse and Burley are where most shared houses sit. Halls are often closer to the universities. Pack for the room you have been offered, then stop.

Keep with you, not in the van
Passport or ID, tenancy paperwork, bank cards, medication, laptop and chargers, and a change of clothes for the first night. These stay in your bag. If a box goes to the wrong room in a shared house, you can still cook and get online.
Bedding and the room
Bring bedding that fits the bed size in the offer, a towel, and a lamp if the hall allows one. Coat hangers and a small set of cleaning cloths are more useful than extra cushions. Measure a desk lamp and a monitor before you assume they fit a hall desk.
Kitchen, shared or not
In a shared house, agree one set of pans, plates and a bin. Eight people do not need eight kettles. Label your box with your name and “kitchen”. In halls with a shared kitchen, check what the building already provides before you buy a second toaster.
What to leave
Landlord furniture stays. So does anything the tenancy says you cannot bring, including some bikes indoors and anything with an open flame. Paint, fuel and half-empty bottles of cleaner should not go in a removal van. If you are leaving a family home as well, that job is separate from this list.
