Damage on a house move is usually ordinary: a plate in a box of books, a wardrobe door left unlocked, a marble top carried flat when it should have been on edge. None of that needs a dramatic story. It needs a list and a path.
The move is booked as a house removal. Packing, if you want us to do it, is packing.
Box by type
Keep books in small boxes. They become too heavy to lift safely when the box is large. Wrap plates on edge, glasses individually, and mirrors in a carton that states which room. Do not mix tools with lampshades. Label fragile boxes on the side, not only on the top, so the word is visible when they are stacked.
Furniture
Empty drawers, lock or tape doors that swing, and take off anything that the maker expects you to remove, such as a loose shelf. Tell us about glass tops and antique finishes before we blanket them. If a piece already has a scratch, say so. Insurance is provided. Ask what is covered, and mention items you want noted.
The route through the house
Clear the hall, the landing and the stairs. A Leeds terrace with a turn on the landing is where sofas and mattresses catch. Protect a banister if you know it is loose, and tell us. We will not force a piece that does not fit.
Plants, paint and open liquids stay out of the van. Defrost the freezer in time. Disconnect appliances yourself. We carry them. We do not plumb them.
